Have a Picnic for Mother’s Day!

mothers-day-picnic-1Want to know my favorite way to enjoy dinner? It would be on a picnic. A warm, sunny, summer evening. Cool, soft grass. A basket full of a delicious meal. And, my favorite people gathered around me all cuddled together on a blanket. Life doesn’t get much better.

mothers-day-picnic-2For Mother’s Day this year, instead of a traditional breakfast-in-bed or a large Sunday supper, try surprising that lucky lady with a basket full of a delicious dinner to go.

mothers-day-picnic-3To add a level of sophistication and elegance to the picnic, I had menu cards printed up from Minted. Not only does having a menu card add a lovely touch and detail to the basket, it also was very useful letting my picnic guests know what it was they were about to eat.

mothers-day-picnic-4 mothers-day-picnic-5For my picnic I went for a meal that my whole family adores Chicken Milanese with Arugula Salad found in The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook. I started the meal off with a favorite appetizer – cheese platter, cured meats, and crackers. And, ended the evening with sweet dessert crepes. Bananas, and Justin’s Hazelnut butter anyone?

mothers-day-picnic-6This is going to be my new tradition for Mother’s Day. And, I am so excited to start this year! What’s your favorite Mother’s Day tradition?

I would LOVE this for Mother’s Day! My husband always makes me breakfast in bed before he heads off to his church meetings. He will make whatever I want, but my favorite is when he makes a fruit sculpture. Fruit just tastes better when it has been made into a work of art. :)
